Co-owner Dr Caitlin Growden joined Plantagenet Medical in June 2019, moving to the following her GP training in Albany and some time working in the Pilbara. She’s especially committed to chronic disease management, women’s health and paediatrics. In her spare time, she enjoys playing hockey, family time on their farm and the beach.

Dr Amanda Villis fell in love with the Mount Barker community when she arrived in 2012. What was supposed to be a 6-month stint turned into a permanent position, a new lifestyle, and a new home. She’s passionate about the science, art, and challenge of general practice, and finds tremendous joy in helping people manage their health to achieve their goals. Outside of work, Mandie can usually be found chasing a ball around a sports field, taste testing local wine and food, or hanging out with her small flock of pet sheep.

Dr Ligia Galvez has lived and worked in Mount Barker for 17 years. She’s passionate about palliative care, women’s health, and medical acupuncture, and deeply values her role in the local community, where she has also been a swimming coach for 13 years. Ligia has recently found a new passion in hiking and would love to challenge herself by walking the Camino de Santiago in Spain one day soon.

Dr Alanna Gallatly joined Plantagenet Medical in January 2020 as a GP Registrar, enriching our team with her experience in emergency medicine (EM). Beyond EM, Alanna is particularly interested in women’s health. In her free time, she enjoys the natural beauty of the Great Southern, good food and wine, and spending quality time with her family and her dog, Monty.

Born in Perth and raised by migrant parents, Dr Victor Seah was drawn to the country lifestyle from an early age. This ultimately led him to embrace a career as a rural GP in Mount Barker. Victor is passionate about family, friends, food, and wine — and supporting his beloved Dockers. Dr Seah is currently taking a sabbatical from GP work.

Dr Carol Fitzpatrick has been a pillar of the Mount Barker community for over 20 years. She has a broad range of interests in the medical sector, going above and beyond by providing care to the ward and nursing home patients at the neighbouring Plantagenet Hospital. Dr Fitzpatrick is currently taking a sabbatical from GP work.

Originally from Northam, Dr Sophie Todd studied Population Health and Management at UWA and attended medical school at the University of Wollongong in NSW. No stranger to travel, Sophie completed an internship and residency on the Central Coast and then returned to WA, where she worked first in Broome and later at Joondalup Health Campus. There, she focused on obstetrics, gynaecology, and paediatrics. Sophie’s interests extend to women’s health, Aboriginal health, and ear, nose, and throat medicine. She’s currently completing a Graduate Diploma in Child Health and would love to progress her training in skin cancer medicine. Sophie is completing her training in General Practice and is supported and supervised by the senior GPs in the practice.

Dr Alice Vella has spent the past 4 years training as a junior doctor in Albany and Perth, and she is now working towards her rural general practice specialist qualification. She has a special interest in palliative care and absolutely loves living in the Great Southern, finding immense joy in cooking, hiking, reading, and spending quality time with her dogs. Alice is a GP registrar and is supported and supervised by the senior GPs in the practice.

Nathan Graham is a musculoskeletal physiotherapist specialising in wellbeing-focused manual therapy and rehabilitation. He believes a healthy body reflects a balanced life, and incorporates exercise, diet, sleep, and mental wellness into his practice. Nathan obtained his Bachelor of Clinical Sciences (Osteopathy) in 2011 before completing his Master of Physiotherapy through the University of Canberra. Outside of his practice, he is an avid surfer, swimmer, runner, cyclist, rock climber, hiker, and meditator.

Helen is a private midwife offering complete, personalised maternity care — from your first positive test through to six weeks postnatal. She provides continuity of care, home visits, ultrasound and pathology requests, scripts as needed, and compassionate support for both mother and baby every step of the way.
