💙 Did you know bowel cancer is one of the most common cancers in Australia, yet it is highly treatable when detected early?
Unfortunately, many people ignore the warning signs due to embarrassment or because they think it won't happen to them. Don't wait — early detection saves lives.
Common symptoms to watch for include:
🩸 Changes in bowel habits (such as looser or thinner stools)
🩸 Blood in your stool
🩸 Unexplained fatigue or weight loss
🩸 Persistent abdominal pain or swelling
You are eligible to complete a free bowel cancer screening test every 2 years if you:
✔️ Are aged between 45 and 74 years
✔️ Have a green Medicare card or are registered as a Department of Veterans' Affairs customer
✔️ Have an Australian mailing address
You can request a free bowel cancer screening kit if you:
📬 Are aged 45–49 and would like to receive your first screening kit
📬 Are aged 50–74 and did not automatically receive your last kit, or if it was damaged, misplaced, or expired
Not sure if you should request a kit? Contact the National Bowel Cancer Screening Program Contact Centre on 1800 627 701 or visit their website
www.ncsr.gov.au/bowel-program/manage-your-participation-in-the-bowel-program/request-a-free-bowel...
If you notice any symptoms or have a family history of bowel cancer, speak to your GP without delay.
Let's break the stigma, start the conversation, and prioritise our health. Share this post to remind someone you care about to get checked. 💙 #BowelCancerAwareness #EarlyDetectionSavesLives #GetChecked
